Close to Lichinga on the border with Malawi lies Lake Nissa, over 75km wide in some parts. It is home to a diverse range of fish, over 500 species have been identified. The area of Mozambiqe bordering the lake, known as the Lake District, is very senic - sandy beaches fringed by mountains with steep hills coming down to the lake shore.
