It's not called the Centro de Aprendizagem (Centre of Learning) for nothing - its where we spend all day teaching. Some people have expressed an interest in what it is I do all day, so here is that information.

A day in the life | First course report | Second course report | Resources

A life in the day:
07:00get up and get dressed
09:00walk to the Centre for lesson and planning and marking
10:00teach first class of the day: Computing
12:00return home for a delicious lunch prepared by Aida
12:45on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays we have Portuguese lessons at the Centre with Moses
14:00four hours of afternoon teaching begins with my first English class
16:00my second English class
18:00return home and have dinner, again expertly prepared by Aida
18:30the evenings are then usually our own, I have recently started to go running after dinner. Other entertainments involve reading, music, using the computers at the Centre or the Internet at the office

Update: 14th April 2004
Since that was written, in February, things have changed quite a lot. In a dramatic cost saving measure we have now moved the Centre into our house, slashing the total monthly rent from $600 to just $300. Classes have chnged too, and as a result my day is a little different.

Another life in the day:
08:00get up, get dressed and keep myself entertained for a while by reading, juggling, or any lesson preparation
10:00teach what is for now my only class of the day: Computing
12:00"return" home (all of ten metres) for a delicious lunch prepared by Aida
14:00my afternoons are now spent as productivly as possible, helping at the Nakosso office, learning to juggle, reading or trying to develop my Portuguese
18:00dinner (as prepared by Aida) is normally on the table by five, but we put of eating until about six
18:30the evenings are then usually our own, entertainments are similar to before, although juggling has now more or less replaced running!
